Activity

Below are 20 butterflies – each one represents the sale of 1,000 Blue Butterfly cards.

For every 1,000 cards we sell, another butterfly will spring into colour and a new story snippet or interesting fact will appear.

Within 24 hours of the Blue Butterfly charity card going on sale, it had raised $10,000 for the Appeal.   The same Trader who ordered 1,000 cards, Jasmine Filmer, sold 310 within 48 hours. Outstanding! Incidentally, her day job is with Land and Fire Management for one of Victoria’s Emergency Services agencies.   Phoenix artist, Amanda Loverseed has donated the original artwork of Blue Butterfly to help raise money for the Appeal. Phoenix will be selling the artwork to one lucky Australian Trader through a silent auction.   Blue Butterfly has become the fastest-selling Phoenix product in the Company’s history.
More than 330 Phoenix Traders from across Australia and New Zealand have gotten involved in this great initiative.
The Victorian Bushfire Appeal was established as a partnership between the Red Cross and the Victorian and Australian Governments.
The largest number of cards sold to a single Phoenix Trader has been 1,000 – we wonder if anyone will beat that amount!   Trader involvement by state is ranked as follows: VIC, QLD, NSW/NZ, WA, TAS/SA, ACT.
As of 6 March 2009, the Appeal had raised $227 million with millions more pledged.
An independent panel of community leaders is overseeing how the funds raised through the Appeal are distributed.
The response to the Blue Butterfly charity card initiative from Traders has been wonderful. “I have just received my butterfly cards and just had to pass on my excitement to you… they are wonderful, fantastic, beautiful. Well done to the team on producing a quality card in such a short time frame!” Deb Connor.
Her Majesty The Queen has made a personal donation to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
One Trader, Jenny Clements’ customers bought her mother-in-law a Card Organiser Box for Christmas last year. It’s her mother-in-law’s birthday next week, so she has ordered ten Blue Butterfly cards to put in the box as a birthday present.
The Red Cross will not deduct any money from the donations it receives to cover the costs of running the Appeal and all interest earned on donations will be invested back into the Appeal.
Funds raised through the Victorian Bushfire Appeal are already making a difference to families with immediate needs.
Trader, Elaine Batiste keeps a Phoenix Treasure Box (containing a copy of the very first catalogue she received etc.) and has added Blue Butterfly to remind her of how cards really do connect with people.
Thanks to the fantastic work of our Australian Traders, we have raised more than $40,000 for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal in just over one week!
The Blue Butterfly symbolises hope and renewed life.
Although Blue Butterfly is not being sold as a charity card in the UK, a number of our British Traders are also supporting the Appeal through their own fundraising efforts.
88% of our stockholding of the Blue Butterfly cards was sold within the first 7 days of the product being released
