Red Nose Day 2011

Once again, Phoenix Trading staff plan to participate in fundraising for Red Nose Day on Friday 18th March. The theme is Do something funny for money.

We last participated in 2009 and collectively raised £465.31 on the day.

What is Red Nose Day?

Red Nose Day is a UK-wide fundraising event organised by Comic Relief every two years. On Red Nose Day everyone is encouraged to cast inhibitions aside, put on a Red Nose and do something a little bit silly to raise money – celebrities included! It culminates in a night of extraordinary comedy and moving documentary films on BBC One. It’s an event that unites the entire nation in trying to make a difference to the lives of thousands of people, both across Africa and in the UK, facing terrible injustice or living in abject poverty.

Here’s what we have planned for Red Nose Day in 2011:

1. A Phoenix Phashion Show!

This is a team activity and each team will have a designer and a model. The designer’s role is to fashion an outfit from bubblewrap, reject products and discarded boxes which is then (very bravely) modelled by their team mate. The fashion show will take place in the picking line at 3:00 p.m.

2. Win a paid day off from work

There will be a raffle to win a paid day off. Who will be the lucky person this time?

3. Pick a Pose – Sweepstake – Win £15

Using the Red Nose Day Sweepstake poster, participants will ‘Pick a Pose’ for just £2 per go.

4. Money ssssssnake.

We will start a money snake at 7:30 a.m. at the entrance door of our main building and see how far we can make it snake through the building. Staff participates by donating the small change in their purse/wallet and adding these coins to the end of the money snake.

5. Cake Bake and Sale.

Cake Bakes are always a popular fundraiser for Phoenix staff to get involved with – fun for the bakers and even more fun for the consumers of cake! Mmm!

All the money raised by the above activities will be donated to the Comic Relief charity. We will be taking pictures and writing stories of our day and these will be posted on our Phoenix International Charity website.

Let’s see what Phoenix can do in 2011!
