American Breast Cancer Foundation
The mission of the American Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF) is to provide early detection education and screening services to people in need. In 2008 alone, the ABCF will provide assistance to nearly 10,000 individuals of all ages.
The Foundation supports breast cancer patients and their families by providing financial aid to impoverished and uninsured women for cancer screening and diagnostic tests. Through its Key to Life Breast Cancer Screening Assistance Program, the ABCF helps these women gain access to mammograms, diagnostic mammograms and ultrasounds and provides limited assistance grants for biopsies.
The ABCF also provides financial support to those in need for the continuation of necessary chemotherapy or medications when no other resources are immediately available. It also helps breast cancer patients access crucial information, additional assistance programmes and support services.
The Foundation relies predominantly on the goodwill of the United States community to keep operating.
